What age do children start having an opinion on what they wear?

It’s got to that point now where I can’t choose Darcy’s clothes for her any more. At all. She has to be involved in the making process all the way. From choosing the fabric, to choosing the pattern to choosing the detail, the length. EVERYTHING. It’s a pain because it takes longer. But in the long run at least I know she’ll wear what I make her. Well actually, not always. Arrrgggh! It’s not easy having a 9 year old with an opinion*. Continue reading

A rather strange obsession

Pleat fold top and paperbag skirt_1

A paper bag skirt was the first skirt I ever made for Scout. But sadly it has become too small for social etiquette. She wanted me to make her another one, but she was adamant that she didn’t want the single strap this time. I tried to tell explain to her that it was cool and quirky, but she looked at me in a way that suggested I had no idea what cool was. Continue reading

Lots of amazing goodies to be given away. Feeling lucky?

Panda3Cute panda fabric is not something I would usually be drawn to, but the quality of this fabric lured me in. It’s soft, very warm and super snuggly, and that’s why Darcy claimed it for herself as soon as she laid eyes on it.
She’s far too cool to even consider wearing pandas in the street, she’s 9 after all and 9 year olds don’t wear pandas. At least that’s what she thought.
