I’m not keen on things that are too fussy or over designed. I find beauty in simple things. Simple things with a little detail or a quirky element. But I have just sewn an outfit that has it all (well not all, but a quite a lot). And guess what?
I love it.
For the first time, I used some sewing techniques that I have never used before. I have gone all out on this one because I wanted to do something a little different to make my outfit stand out from the crowd*. I can not tell you all the sewing techniques I used. I mean I really can’t tell you, because I don’t know what they are called. So I’m hoping you might be able to help.
Can you name the sewing technique?
Just for fun (and to enhance my terminology) please leave a comment with your answers. It will be interesting to test your knowledge, and even if you have no clue, just make something up that sounds good, it’s just for fun. 🙂

*Head on over to The Mara Blog and you can see this gorgeous little outfit in all it’s glory.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
looks fab! I can see a narrow hem, button loop, lining, pleats, ummmm and some piping. Great job!

Thank you Renee. That’s it, a narrow hem, not ‘a tiny little hem’, which is what I’ve been telling myself.

i like your version of the mara, i was wondering, what you’re going to do! and as expected it’s gorgeous! i think nr. 10 is shirring and nr. 7 maybe pleating? would be more easy for me to name them in german!

Thank you so much Nina. No 7 I’m confused about. I think 4 may be pleating, but if 7 is pleating, what is 4? Let’s see what others think. Thanks.

Oh you are too kind 🙂 but truly, it won’t be sophisticated, i sewed it while i was on vacation and took the minimum of tools so i made it very simple 🙂
And thank you so much for suscribing to my newsletter ! I’m going to follow you too 😉
